Apparently this thing is a giant Cicada of some sort... It doesn't really look like one though. It was huge, like 5 or 6 inches long!

Looks more like a cricket to me. Don't all cicada have visible wings? And the back legs look set up for jumping, which I haven't heard of for cicada. The antenna are very grasshopper/cricket looking, while from what I am seeing cicadas should have short, small antenna, barely noticeable.

Yeah, there were tons of cicadas in Minca and they didn't look anything like this. I tend to agree, it looks like a cricket.
